The Georgia DOT is initiating a rolling roadblock on Interstate 16 starting Tuesday, March 6 and Thursday, March 8 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., running through the end of April, as part of overhead signage upgrade project.
Traffic impacts will occur on intermittent weeknights between mileposts 154 and 164 in Chatham County during rolling roadblock. Traffic control officers will be own site at various points to ensure safety of the public by piloting the rolling roadblock at 20 mph typically not exceeding 15 minutes.
The roadblocks are necessary to install overhead sign panels. All work is weather contingent.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and exercise caution while driving in these areas. On-site message boards indicating dates and times will be present in advance of these nighttime rolling roadblocks.
