St Marys Waterfront Park is a sweet location for a relaxing outing. With seating on the covered dock overlooking the water, the multiple benches and the inviting yard perfect for picnic seating, the waterfront park is an ideal place to just sit, relax and unwind.

Need another reason to spend some time here? Three words: Food Truck Saturdays! The last Saturday of every month, three different food trucks will be stationed at the waterfront beginning at 1:00 p.m. June 30th is the next event and event planners suggest showing up early. The food trucks are scheduled to be available until 8:00 p.m., or until they sell out. In the past, the trucks have been sold out by around 7:00 p.m., so don’t wait till the last minute to visit!

What if dinner from a food truck isn’t your idea of fun? Angela Wigger, Director of Tourism for the St Marys Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), shared an optional way to participate and enjoy the downtown area.

“There’s always something sweet to eat, so if dinner from a truck isn’t your thing, you can have dinner out one of our downtown eateries like Riverside Cafe or Bessie’s and then head to the trucks for dessert and a walk,” she shares. “It’s a fun event that draws a variety of people to downtown and the location, in front of the St. Marys Waterfront Park, is a naturally cool hang out spot that provides benches and picnic seating.”

The monthly tradition got its start back in January and has been successful in gathering new faces to the downtown area each month. July 28th and August 25th are the two dates to add to your calendar, as those are the future dates of more food truck treats. In addition to the food trucks event at the last Saturday of every month, there are other activities available throughout the month, and some throughout the summer.

For example, throughout the summer, the St Marys movie theatre is offering a kids movie each Tuesday and Thursday for a discounted price. Admission is $1.50, drinks are set at $1.50, as is the popcorn. The Summer Kids Series runs each June and July, with movies beginning at 10:00 a.m. sharp, with doors opening at 9:15 a.m. Here are the remaining titles and dates:

  • Captain Underpants, June 26 & 28
  • The Smurfs, July 3 & 5
  • The Emoji Movie, July 10 & 12
  • Lego Ninjago, July 17 & 19
  • Despicable Me3, July 24 &26
