The Kingsland City Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding Monday night that will create a new partnership concerning campus safety with Coastal Pines Technical College.
The Camden Campus is not currently built, but the relationship creates a partnership with local law enforcement during times of emergency situations such as storm preparedness or other safety protections.
The agreement provides for the following:
- Approval of the agreement from the local police department, the Technical College president, Commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia, and the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia.
- Coastal Pines Technical College and Kingsland Police will cooperate with and render assistance to the party requesting such.
- The senior officer of the Kingsland Police Department will be in command of the local emergency as to strategy, tactics, and overall direction of operations.
Kingsland Police Cheif Griffis said that the relationship will not overburden police officer demands within the city of Kingsland.
