The Floyd County Democratic Party’s annual Georgia Giants dinner will be held September 22 at 6:30 p.m. on a local farm soon to be featured on national television, and the guest speaker is a candidate in the state governor’s race.
Lyons Bridge Farm in Cave Spring, owned by Wes Walraven and Brian Moore, is a 1000-acre grass-fed beef operation established in 2014. The farm just wrapped up filming a segment set to air in November of “Barnwood Builders,” a DIY Network program whose hosts reconstruct new buildings out of salvaged antique log cabins and barns.
Guests at the dinner will be able to see the progress before the show airs in November, as well as enjoy the featured speaker for the event, Stacey Evans.  The event also features awards for local Democrats and a silent auction.  R & R Catering will provide the appetizers and meal for the event, and Sugarfoot Bakery and Catering is creating a custom Georgia dessert for the occasion.
“Many people are motivated to get involved in politics at this time, and it’s great to have a beautiful venue large enough to accommodate our many friends,” says FCDP chair Ruth Demeter.  “It’s obvious from our city commission and school board election that people want to be engaged, and we’re pleased to have a night to celebrate local efforts and achievements.”
Tickets for the dinner are $50 until September 15, thereafter $60.  Tables and sponsorship opportunities, including providing complimentary tickets for students, are also available.  Tickets can be purchased online at or by mailing a check to the Floyd County Democratic Party, PO Box 844, Rome, GA 30162.
