Two Georgia officers were involved in a shooting where a someone used a vehicle to run over officers, the operator of the vehicle was not found.
On Saturday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested by the Henry County Police Department (HCPD) to investigate an officer-involved shooting.
Initial reports indicate that at approximately 1:26 am, a HCPD officer initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 75. During the stop, the vehicle fled the scene.
Officers pursued the vehicle to the cul-de-sac in McDonough where the vehicle stopped. As officers approached, the vehicle drove toward them. Two officers fired their weapons.
The vehicle was later located on Head Lane in McDonough, but the driver was not found.
Several hours after the incident, local news reports say that the local police have found the suspect that placed the car into drive aimed at the officers.
The suspect is Joseph Moore, who has as a felony probation warrant out in nearby Clayton County.
The GBI will continue its independent investigation. Once completed, it will be turned over to the Henry County District Attorney’s office for review.
