In its continuing effort to support local schools, The Parker Companies has made a contribution to the general fund at Needwood Middle School. Parker’s contributes one penny from every gallon of gas sold on the first Wednesday of each month to local schools.
Patrick Parker, president of The Parker Companies, said the money is pooled from sales at 11 different Parker’s locations in southeast Georgia. Customers who have a PumpPerks Card from Parker’s can nominate their favorite school when they enroll online for the discount gas program.
“Our School Rewards Program is just one way we’re partnering with our customers to give back to our community,” explained Parker. “Since we introduced PumpPerks in 2013, we have enrolled more than 15,000 people who have saved over $350,000 on fuel purchases at our stores.”
Parker said PumpPerks allows his company to save on processing fees charged by credit card companies. “We’re passing that savings on to our customers who have a free PumpPerks card. We would rather keep this money in our community to help our customers and reward our local schools.”
Marlowe Hinson, principal at Needwood Middle School, said the discretionary funds from Parker’s will enable the school to support the after-school program and other non-funded items that benefit students and teachers.
“We are most appreciative of Parker’s and Patrick’s ongoing support of our local schools. With the help of outstanding corporate partners like Parker’s, we can provide additional opportunities for our students. This is a really great gift as we approach the end of another school year. We always have special needs this time of year,” said Hinson.
