The Georgia Sea Turtle Center and Jekyll Island will be hosting the Turtle Release today at 2:00 pm on Great Dunes Beach on Jekyll Island.
The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is the state’s only sea turtle education and rehabilitation facility. The rehabilitation department has treated hundreds of sea turtles that have been stranded, ill or injured along our coastal waterways.  Some turtles have come all the way from Amelia Island, St. Augustine Florida and other areas along the coast and the rehab department has released nearly 60% of these patients.
Join the staff as they release some of their rehabilitated patients back to the ocean. The release happens at 2 p.m today. Please arrive early, as the release will start promptly at 2 p.m. Remember to bring your hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water, and a friend.
This threatened marine wildlife needs to be protected and cared for and the center offers the opportunities for awareness and interaction with their rehabilitation activities for the  public.
The official Georgia Sea Turtle Center website provides all the opportunities to learn more about the programs, research, and other important work being done to save turtles and other coastal wildlife.
