When a parent made the initial allegations of the activity on March 6, 2018, the Glynn County PD worked diligently with the Glynn County School System and the Glynn County Board of Education Police Department to substantiate the allegations.
The Glynn County School System took immediate action upon hearing the allegations on March 6th and placed Mr. Coen on administrative leave to ensure the safety of the children. Mr. Coen resigned from the Glynn County School System on March 15, 2018.
The press release stated that Mr. Coen was arrested without incident. He has been charged with two (2) counts of Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation, in violation of O.C.G.A. 16-12-100.2(e)(1) and two (2) counts of Child Molestation, in violation of O.C.G.A. 16-6-4-(a)(2). These charges stem from inappropriate electronic communications Mr. Coen has had, since December 2017, with the two children ages 14 and 15 years old.
Police investigators say there is no evidence that Mr. Coen had any inappropriate physical contact with the children and that none of these activities appear to have occurred on school grounds or during school hours. Since this is still an ongoing investigation, more charges against Mr. Coen are possible.
Parents who have children that are current or former students of Mr. Cohen’s and feel their child may have been victimized are asked to please contact Police Investigator Molly Cruikshank at 912-554-7802.
